Planning Commission approves Rs.25250 Crore for Chhattisgarh

The Planning Commission Wednesday approved a Rs.25,250 crore outlay for Chhattisgarh for 2013-14. The outlay was finalised at a meeting between the commission's Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh in New Delhi. The current plan size is 10 percent higher than the previous year. In addition, Rs.6,500 crore is likely to flow from the central government to Chhattisgarh through various centrally-sponsored schemes. 
Minister of State for Planning Rajeev Shukla and Chhattisgarh Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Shivraj Singh also attended the meeting. Fifty percent of the total outlay has been earmarked for social services with a provision of Rs.11,559 crore. The amount will be used in education, health, for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and for the welfare of other backward sections. Twenty percent has been allocated for agriculture and irrigation.
